Mechipchamooech
Nova Scotia, Canada, January, 2011

In the middle of the winter these honey bees left their hives and died in the snow. Naturally not all bees in a colony survive winter, but the current rate at which bee colonies collapse has raised global alarm. The title of this work, ‘Mechipchamooech’, is the word for ‘bee’ in the language of the Micmac Indians, the indigenous people of Nova Scotia, Canada.
